Whether you're an operator, a mining engineer, a data scientist, a biodiversity expert or anyone else, your work at Rio Tinto helps the modern world work – and progress.
From the essential materials for electric cars to the components of wind turbines, from water conservation to wildlife protection, across 5 continents, our 52,000+ employees help drive the progress that nearly 8 billion people seek.
For over 150 years we’ve been looking for new and better ways of doing things.
This drive for innovation and continuous improvement is at the heart of our company's purpose: Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
Today, you'll find our teams around the world doing just that: seeking opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, partnering to develop new technologies to decarbonise steel and aluminium production, and creating new products from waste.
But we can’t do it on our own. We’re striving to create partnerships to solve problems, create win-win and meet opportunities.
Our ambition is to be a business with a commodity mix that is aligned with evolving customer demand in a decarbonising world. A home for curious people, who care about their work and colleagues, and are courageous about finding better ways to do things and are empowered to adapt quickly to solve problems and meet opportunities. And the partner of choice for customers, governments and communities.
Whether you’re just beginning your career, moving up, or heading in a new direction, we want to grow together. We offer on-the-job learning, as well as training focused on technical, trades and leadership with world-class graduate, trainee and apprenticeship programs.
Our pay is highly competitive, and our benefits packages are flexible and can be tailored to suit different needs and life stages. We also provide a generous share scheme, myShare, so you can own a part of the company you help run.
We're committed to an inclusive environment where all of our people feel respected and comfortable to be themselves at work. We want all voices to be heard and all cultures respected. Not just because it's the right thing to do, but because a diverse workplace is good for our business, and essential to our success.
Though our global team works across many cultures and places, our values – care, courage and curiosity – guide how we work and how we treat each other, at all levels of our business, around the world.
We act with care by prioritising the physical and emotional safety and wellbeing of those around us. We respect others, build trusting relationships and consider the impact of our actions. We look for ways to contribute to a better future for our people, communities and the planet.
We act with courage by showing integrity, speaking up when something is not right and taking decisive action when needed. We are not afraid to try new things. We respond positively in difficult situations and demonstrate commitment to achieving shared goals.
We act with curiosity by inviting diverse ideas and collaborating to achieve more together than can be done alone. We are continuously learning, creatively looking for better and safer ways of doing things. We draw inspiration from others and the world around us.
FIFO - or 'fly in, fly out' - is a common phrase in mining. Because many of our sites are regional or remote from populated areas, some jobs require our people to work on rosters where we fly them to and from our operations for work, and return them safely home again. While on site, they enjoy comfortable lodgings and facilities, including gyms, chef-run cafeterias, pools, and entertainment facilities, depending on their location.
Our future success begins with choosing the right people to help us find better ways to produce materials the world needs. Browse our job listings and join our talent network to take the first step to joining us.
